Mrs. Kielsmeier’s Procedures 2020-21
Mrs. Kielsmeier’s Class Procedures 2020-21
~ Student planners are an important tool to learn to use in school. Because students have multiple teachers in 5th and 6th grades, planners are highly encouraged. They do not need to be signed by parents unless special arrangements are needed.
~ 1 Freebie per month is allowed without penalty. The student will complete the assignment that day.
~ Students have a study hall each day, although it is shortened because of the earlier release at 2:35 or 2:40pm. 1-1 ½ hours of homework would be typical.
~ When homework cannot be completed on Wednesday night because of church activities, please send me a note or an email and there will be no late penalty. Incomplete work will be finished in school the next day, Thursday.
~ A manila envelope will be sent home each Monday with important notes and papers for you to see. After reviewing the stapled papers, please sign the top one and return it to school in the envelope. Keep unstapled papers at home.
~ Most of our class information will also be posted on the website.
~ Students may bring a treat on their birthdays. Please avoid all peanut products and wrap/bag each treat individually for distribution.
~ Check the website (it may link you to Seesaw) for missed assignments. One day per day missed is allowed to complete the day’s work. Students may need to keep up by submitting work electronically.
~ Each family needs to be a part of Seesaw. It will be used in class on a regular basis. (Instructions will be forthcoming.)
Lunch Detentions (LD’s)
~ The disciplinary tool used at the main building for late homework (after the Freebie is used), poor behavior, disobedience. It entails missing morning Activity Period/Recess and snack, and working on schoolwork in Mr. Gesin’s classroom in room 204 during this time.
~ The FCS handbook details the progression of disciplinary action from multiple LD’s.
~ Much of the day of 5/6th grade will be held in the outdoor classrooms. Students will need to keep a jacket, raincoat/umbrella, possibly warmer outdoor shoes for inclement weather. Stormy days and seasonal changes will force outdoor classes inside.
~ Due to several factors in these Coronvirus days, there will be no PE class, per se. Activity Period will incorporate physical activities for health, strength, balance and agility. Mr. Callison, the PE teacher, will be directing a game for 5/6th grades on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at lunch period recess. Tuesday and Thursday recess will be free play days.
Design Lab (D-Lab)
~ This period will include time to work on hands-on projects, art, science experiments, learning games. See the class schedule for days and times.
*~ Please send 2 bags of small wrapped (non-peanut) candies for our prize bucket.
*~ Please send $3.00 toward the purchase of pictures that Mrs. Hage and I will take throughout our 2020-21 school year. We will use these to create a memory album in May!
I check my email several times a day. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that arise!
